Essay
The Speedmaster Mark III automatic chronograph with a calibre 1040 was launched by OMEGA in 1970 and became their first automatic chronograph.
The calibre 1040 was developed together with Lemania and consisted of a central rotor winding automatic chronograph, with a diameter of 13 3/4 lines and a height of 8 mm. Due to the thickness of the movement a large case was built to house the movement.
