Essay
The Seamaster is the longest running product line still produced by OMEGA today. It was introduced in 1948, and was loosely based upon designs made for the British Royal Navy towards the end of World War II.
Introduced in 1943 The Bumper movement is a self-winding automatic movement. Unlike other variations of an automatic movement where the rotor rotates a full 360 degrees, the bumper movement moves back and forth around 120 degrees. Omega found this to be the most effective, due to the rotor ‘bumping’ off a pair of springs on opposite sides of the watch, although not exclusive to the manufacturer.
