The reference 3588 was introduced by Patek Philippe in 1970 and ended production in 1980. Patek Philippe used the LeCoultre calibre 28-255 for the first time and was considered to be one of the favourite ultra-thin self-winding movements in production. The reference 3588 became especially popular in the Middle East whereby certain watches were enhanced with symbols significant to the nations requesting them.
