Essay

The OMEGA Memomatic was invented by Raoul-Henri Erard in 1968 and was introduced in 1970 and was the world's first in alarm wristwatches. It was the first automatic wristwatch that was powered by one barrel simultaneously for the time and alarm function (hammer against a vibrating blade). The alarm when activated only uses the power equivalent of one revolution of the barrel.

It also meant the first alarm mechanism triggered to the exact minute by means of a display composed of two moving discs indexed to the striking mechanism: a triangle for the hours and a double line for the minutes.
