Introduced in 1974, the Omega Speedmaster Mark IV ("4.5") built upon the design of earlier models such as the Mark III and Mark IV (1973). While retaining familiar elements such as the Mark IV case paired with the Mark V movement, the Mark 4.5 expanded functionality by incorporating a dedicated day-of-the-week display. Its dial layout was further refined through the addition of another sub-dial, enabling the 24-hour indication to be displayed independently from the running seconds.
