Essay
The calibre 1861 was the natural evolution of the calibre 861 which had previously been used in many Moonwatch models. For the upgrade, it was made with a more corrosion-resistant rhodium-plating. Its frequency remained the same as the calibre 861 at 21,600 v/h and it featured the same shuttle cam and Delrin® chronograph brake designed to preserve the teeth of the chronograph seconds wheel and avoid abrasion and fatigue.
Built for the next great human destination. This model coincided with the American announcement that they planned to build a permanent space station on the moon before 2020 to act as a launch site for future manned missions to Mars. Celebrating those celestial bodies, the watch has counters printed with images of the moon, Earth and Mars.
